The Big RV
As Cousin Eddy would say, a Recreational Vehicle!
So…
Melinda and I just returned from the fancy RV Dealer with our new toy!
A bus sized diesel pusher motorhome, 1.5 baths, sleeps 8, much more luxurious than our own home! It’s amazing!
OK…
OK…
So, I’m lying.
Sorry about that.
Was lost in some luxe fantasy there!
In real life, we just bought the coolest RV of 1959! That’s right, a genuine 1959 Apache Chief!
The whole thing is four feet wide, and seven feet long. A little aluminum box that a tent pops out of. Back in ‘59 that baby was 495$ straight off the lot.
I tried to convince Melinda that she should sell her modern Jeep so that we could pull this fine vintage trailer with the Willy’s Jeep shown, but alas, I was met with some nonsense about wanting a roof in the rain.
Anywho, for a lot of years I had a vintage Airstream, 21 feet longer than this new Apache, and that was a lot of fun. But, we stopped using it when we became involved with the Grand Lodge, so it ended up sold a few years ago.
The Apache makes an even better replacement!
You see, oldest Granddaughter Avery has declared that she wants to go camping, and Grandfather me is too damn lazy to actually set up an old time wall tent and too damn old to sleep on the ground. So we ran across this perfect solution. Vintage Trailer Rallies, here we come!
Now we just have to buy some 1959 camping gear to decorate with. Some good old Coleman stuff. Probably not much though, some looking through the basement should yield most of what we need.
The good news is that it doesn’t have a bathroom, or any sort of actual running water, so I shan’t have the same troubles as Cousin Eddy.
Now, of course, I write in a niche, and that niche is Freemasonry, so I’ve got to tie this all into the Lodge somehow. Here it is:
I’ll be dragging this beauty up to Quilcene Jefferson Lodge for our really excellent Day of Masonry on September 20! I’ll be sleepin’ over at the Mount Walker Inn, but this beauty will be there, showin’ off!
Join us!
Planning The Great Masonic Party
I really hope that you’ll be able to join us on Saturday, September 20! It will be a truly wonderful day, and night, of Freemasonry.
BBQ And Starlight Degree Update
I heard the other day that the Mount Walker Inn at Quilcene is now full. After a bit of digging around, it looks like there are still rooms available, but they are looking for guests to book for more than one night.
Now I’ve just got to figure out how to secure that 1959 License Plate, with its still intact 1959 License Tab to the trailer in such a way that it can’t be stolen!
I also have to wonder…
Are you like me and think that this is great fun and super cool?
Or are you wondering if I’ve gone completely batshit nuts?
Could be a combination of both, I suppose.

As man was originally nomadic, I like to think that you have the best of both worlds, sans a time machine of course. A little bit of nature and a little bit of natural make for a comfortable material mix while attending to esoteric and fraternal pleasures.
Well I can't wait to see you AND this beast you got MW ......it is slightly younger than I am and my only traveling these days is to the Lodge and in fact last night was the #6 Stated and I was the second member to arrive......then I started getting sick and ended up driving back home in pain but after many hours I came back to life and there is no way I will miss the BBQ and I will be the Fellowcraft Treasurer that night too (my first time as a Treasurer) hope you and the Mrs have plenty of fun......wish I could do stuff like that but the Mrs and I do our vacations at home.....and every time I am out working on all the national park things I had to plant here over my 43 years on the property I always am reminded of you when I see those "Forget-Me-Nots" all over the place .......along with all the peppermint that I planted and decided it had to grow around the pond.......I had Brother Clayton visit and with any luck I will be driving that classic car I have had since I was 18 to Lodge #107.....as long as it doesn't rain......since my 1970 Cutlass Supreme is my oldest child and never sees the rain.....OK goodnight MW at 4:45am
