Planning The Great Masonic Party
Join us on September 20, in beautiful Quilcene, Washington
I really hope that you’ll be able to join us on Saturday, September 20! It will be a truly wonderful day, and night, of Freemasonry.
We will gather at Quilcene-Jefferson Lodge:
170 Herbert Street, Quilcene, WA
There is loads of parking, massive lawns, a great Lodge building, and a really excellent outdoor Lodge room under towering evergreen trees.
The Lodge building has been undergoing a major renovation and remodeling, both inside and out over the past months, so this already superb facility will be even better than before! This will be a great opportunity to see all of the work our Brothers have been doing.
First off I should mention that there is going to be a great deal to do in the tiny town of Quilcene on the 20th. Because it is the day of the Quilcene Fair and Parade, which is scheduled to take place from 10 AM to 3 PM on that day. It will include the Parade of course, but also an Arts & Crafts Fair, Food Vendors, a Car Show and more.
Details for all of that can be found at:
But what are we going to be doing on the 20th?
Other than sneaking a peak at the Fair?
Well, let me tell ya!
We are going to be holding the 4th Annual Emeth Masonic BBQ Contest!
So if you like cooking in the great outdoors, get your smoker or grill ready, bring it on up to beautiful Quilcene. Set that baby up at the Lodge at whatever hour you need, and cook your wonderful creations for all to share!
We will of course have voting for the best dishes, and really gaudy and huge trophies for all of the winners! It’ll be superb, and if you win one of these great trophies you’ll be able to show off your superior BBQ skills for life!
On the 20th, you can set up at the Lodge at whatever time you need to. Last year our Brothers from Marysville had the smoke rolling and the meat cooking before I even managed to drag myself out of bed! You can also drop off your cooking equipment the night before, that’s what I did last year which certainly allowed me to get a bit more sleep!
We’ll have a really casual lunch available mid-day.
And then, at dinner time, we’ll break out all the amazing food that spent the day cooking. Share all the delightful goodness, vote, and award the trophies!
Is there anything better than spending a day with Masons, hanging out around the smokers and grills, enjoying a beer and some wonderful conversations?
If cooking isn’t your thing, that’s OK too! Join us! Enjoy the day, devour the food, and vote for the very best!
After dinner we’ll wait until dark, then send our families or other non-Masonic guests to relax in the building and enjoy the evening’s activities there. (Mrs. Bailey is planning that, and hasn’t shared the details with me about it, so stay tuned.)
We Masons will head to the Outdoor Lodge Room where we will perform a Fellowcraft Degree, under the light of the moon and stars, in full costume. It will be a truly amazing Degree experience!
And, we will be conferring that Degree on a truly wonderful new Brother!
I really hope that you will be able to join us for this amazing event.
Did I mention that some alpacas are scheduled to be on the property for any kids who attend to pet?
Probably fire fighters too. Not for petting (get your mind out of the gutter, damnit) last year the local fire department stopped by to share dinner with us. I imagine we’ll see them again this year, as we fill the tiny town with clouds of smoke!
If you’ve never been to Quilcene it is a very small town on the Olympic Peninsula. Completely surrounded by natural beauty. It’s the perfect setting for both our BBQ, and our Degree.
It is just to the south of Port Townsend.
If you would like to stay on the night of the 20th, and are rugged, there is plenty of flat lawn around the Lodge to set up tents large or small.
Or if you would like to stay, and are not rugged I’ve stayed at the Mount Walker Inn a number of times through the years. It is very nice, inexpensive, and located extremely close to the Lodge.
I’ve reserved a room there for the 19th and the 20th. You can do the same at:
I’ll be in Room #2.
To my knowledge, the Mt. Walker Inn is the only motel type place in Quilcene, but there are a myriad of others in the area, particularly at Port Townsend and Blyn.
I truly hope that you can join us on September 20!
I promise that you’ll have a truly wonderful time.
In the days to come I’ll provide some more information about the BBQ Contest itself, the Fellowcraft Degree, other Lodging options in the area, and the Olympic Peninsula Loop (one of our very favorite ways to spend a couple of days here in Washington.)
In the meantime, if you would like to participate in the BBQ Contest, please let me know in the comments below.
Likewise, please comment if you would like to participate in the Degree.
This is going to be a truly superb Masonic Experience! Join us!
And did I mention that we’ll likely have challenge coins available? Custom designed for just this event?
It’s gonna be awesome!

I pray every one has a blessed day!!!
It was great and I was with our MW Bailey and WB Reeder watching the grills.....since I can only cook in the microwave and I think that was the same day I had our VWB Clayton follow me to my private national park to visit my cars........and I just watched Bill Shatner on his program with a program about "secret society's" with a guest who was the only one that knows anything Arturo de Hoyos .....and I am just starting to read the 1723-Constitutions of Freemasonry....not that I have that book I see online but I tend to do several things at the same time these days ( 10 computers) https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/31W6mi+KTVL._SY445_SX342_.jpg ....BUT my plan is to finally drive my 1970 Cutlass Supreme on that 15 minute drive to the Quilcene- Jefferson Masonic Lodge (I am the current JW) and maybe take Clayton on a quick drive this time....oh and every time I am out in the my property it always reminds me of MW Cameron when I see the "Forget Me Nots" all over the place :-)
