One of these has been held by my Lodge (Exemplar No. 175 in G.L. of Alberta) at a PM's farm about 20 miles southeast of Edmonton... it draws about 100 Masons. As evening falls they light the Tiki torches around the "Lodge" and place a moon in a tree but one of the things I love most is that they place a door and jamb (with a knocker on it) in the northwest corner of the Lodge and the Candidates (4 for their 3rd Degree this year) are in the house about a block away. All working in the Degree were a black hooded cloak... it is very eerie and held at the fall solstice.
I can send more info should anyone like to attend (must be an MM of course)... lots of room for a motorhome! A spectacular evening and many stay overnight! It's on September 20th and 21st.
That sounds really awesome! We used to use Tiki Torches, I understand that this year we are going to go with antique kerosene lanterns in place of those. Or maybe some combination.
The door and jamb is something we had never thought of doing, but it would certainly be doable. Until now we've just banged on a tree with a gravel or something similar. We hadn't considered the cloak idea either.
We do though do this Degree in costume. Someone's dream about what people would have worn in King Solomon's time.
MW Brother, I am beyond excited to go from last years candidate to helping a Brother take the next steps in his Masonic Journey. I am look forward to seeing the updates from last years preparations and look forward to helping out however I am able!
