Sending you and your family big love and hugs.💖💖 Kudos to you for being able to write this. What an amazing tribute! Though I didn't know Coop (wish I did), I feel certain he's pleased as punch with the way you've honored him. Soul companions never really leave us and I'm sending lots of peace to Coop all the same.
My dear brother, I offer my condolences at the loss of your friend and companion. The loss of a beloved pet is no easier than the loss of any loved one, because we love them and they love us. Dogs live fearlessly, love fearlessly and when the time comes they pass fearlessly. He was with you and Melinda in the end, and for a dog pack is everything. I'm sure he has carried your love for him across the rainbow bridge, where he and your other beloved companions will some distant day greet you with wagging tails and bright eyes.
All dogs go to Heaven. I'm sure that all 12 of mine are there. Twelve is a lot, but there were those few years when we had nine. We started with 5 but the brother and sister dogs among then decided they wanted to be husband and wife and start a family. I miss all of them.
The dog chapter of my life ended decades ago. Turns out that our daughter is a devout cat lover. With three cats now behind us I can safely say I've never had a cat, but I've lived with three. Anyway, Cindy and I decided that the time isn't right for another pet. I'm not sure the time will ever be right again.
With Cooper now ascending to the Pearly Dog Door I offer my sympathy and prayers to Melinda and you, and my thanks to Cooper for taking such good care of you for the last 15 years.
What was it? About a week ago that I last saw CoopDog? That’s a tough one – I didn’t know at the time that it would be last time I’d see him. And sure enough, he bounced over and kept me company as I was visiting. I also knew that Father Time was creeping up on him, but it doesn’t make things any easier.
I’ve known Cooper for as long as I’ve known you and Melinda. He was indeed a prominent part of your family.
“I held his head in my hands and looked deeply into his eyes as he died. I feel as if in those minutes, hours really, our souls truly connected for one final time.” I learned this from another Brother in our Fraternity who did this when his dog passed. I kept this in mind and did this when my cat passed 6 years ago. It was extremely tough, but in the end, it was worth it. I have NO regrets. I’m glad I was there for him at the end as he was with me for the 13 years up to that point, ever since he was a kitten.
I never did a eulogy for my departed cats, but I do remember getting a bunch of phone calls from Past Grand Masters and other dignitaries while I was burying my cat, (on a different subject, of course.) I think it was God’s way of making things easier. And it did. That being said, this was quite a fine eulogy for your pet crossing the Rainbow Bridge.
My condolesces brother for you and everyone who love Coop. Peace be upon him. Thank you God for love and companionship, even from our most trusted friends, our dogs. I have 6 German Shepherds, the oldest is 7, slowing down, and has stepped aside for my two younger males. My wife and I sometimes talk about the short time we may have left with him, even if its years. God bless you and your family brother.
Condolences. My daughter has a wee dog a King Charles that is aging fast . Marley is deaf, has arthritus but still gets around the house. We know that we might be lucky to get another two or three years but inevitably the time will come when this wee member of our family will be gone.
I understand. My prayers are with you and your wife.
