Please invite me when it happens. I can't promise that I'll be able to make it, but I do want to catch as many degrees as I am able during my time in the East.
Visiting your Lodge has always been a pleasure. As a whole, your membership is extremely welcoming to visitors, something that is unfortunately lacking in some Lodges. Plus sitting while you guys perform ritual is a superb experience. The work the Lodge puts into doing it well clearly shows. And this is without mentioning the veritable feasts put on after the meetings!
I really enjoy seeing degrees done well, and as we all know that quality is vital for the candidate to have a life changing experience. When it comes to your Lodge, I know that I will see a well done degree.
Lastly, I think that back when I received my degrees, we had a big turnout of Brothers for them. That I think really helped make the experience special for me, and that is why I want to spend my time in the East visiting as many degrees as possible. So much better than visiting a business meeting.
I agree wholeheartedly, RW Sir! I learned early on from my mentors of Silverdale Lodge No. 311 that “perfect practice makes perfect”! We owe it to the candidate to make each degree a memorable experience. This is what keeps them coming back to Lodge, and often times they bring a friend.
I look forward to your year in the East and your visit. Silverdale Lodge is known for two things, our ritual work and our delicious food, and we will have both during your visit!
As for our newer members bringing a friend, that is indeed the highest compliment that a Lodge can receive, and the truest way for a Lodge to see sustainable growth.
I look forward to shaking Brothers’ hands and breaking bread with them. To reciting the ritual and initiating two candidates that have been patiently waiting. To conferring several second degrees.
I think you hit the nail on the head! A couple months back I was able to attend an in person Lodge meeting. The Lodge had a large piece of essential business that had to be handled, and could only be handled in a Stated Meeting. So, the Grand Master asked me to attend, and open the meeting.
Only the elected officers were able to attend in person, everyone else was on Zoom, but it powerfully struck me that night just how wonderful it felt to actually be sitting in a Lodge room with my Brothers. I didn't realize how badly I had missed that, but the meeting that night drove it home for me.
It was, without a doubt, a wholly positive, and powerful experience after all of this time.
I also learned just how rusty my ritual had become over the long span without, so I imagine we will all have to do a bit of polishing up.
I would like to have a laptop available for each Place, Station and each in-person Mason in Little Falls Daylight meeting so that we can the capability to go off session after opening and go to a public Zoom with a non-esoteric audio followed by a discussion with both Masons and non Masons participating.
I think that this pandemic has taught us all about how technology can be used to improve the Masonic experience. I'm certainly a firm believer that all of our Lodges need to get online, and share your view that our officers need laptops.
I imagine that most already have their own devices, but for Lodges with elected officers that don't, I think it would be a good expense for the Lodge to provide them.
Chromebooks are excellent machines for Zoom, and the cheapest of Chromebooks are very cheap indeed. Refurbished but still good units can easily be found for $100. Life membership checks are being delivered to our Lodges now, it might be a good time for Lodges to make an investment into their futures.
Conferring the 3rd Degree for an active duty Brother who will be transferring to Guam in July 2021.

It will be an honor and pleasure to have you join us, RW Cameron.
Thank you Brother.

Send me an invite too.
If the date works out for both of us, I'd be happy to do the driving.
Yes, make sure the invitation gets out!
Excellent!
