Very well written. Masonry isn’t just rote memorization of the ritual. Nor is it attendance at meetings. Those are of course part of it. But this article pretty much nails what we should all expect out of each other.

I think one of the biggest mistakes we make with new Masons is unintentionally giving the new Brother the impression that attending one or two meetings a month is the sum total of Masonry and somehow they will magically absorb by osmosis the benefits of the craft.

A month of 30 days contains 720 hours. One or two three hour meetings can hardly be considered a realistic undertaking of learning what Freemasonry has to offer. Not every candidate gets that impression but I feel way too many do.
