Will Work, For Food
Well, maybe not
Sitting down in a dark and mysterious room, with my favorite psychic medium, I channel my inner used car salesman…
And say…
Have I got two great, stupendous, requests for you!
The first request is arguably the more difficult of the two.
I’m going to ask you to talk to your children, your grandchildren, your nieces, your nephews, any damn college aged kid you know, including the kids that are in your neighborhood…
And I’m going to urge you to tell them about Masonic scholarship opportunities in your area.
Higher education is far too expensive for young people to afford. Student loans can crush a young person, and follow an older person all the way to the grave. The whole thing is an unaffordable disaster.
We Masons can help.
We have scholarships available. Lots, and lots, and lots of scholarships!
But not a dollar of this scholarship money does our community a bit of good if we don’t tell people about it.
So that’s my first request! Get out there and tell people that we’ve got free cash, just laying around, waiting for them to come pick up.
Well, actually, they probably have to fill out an application and such, but you get the idea.
Here in Washington State, I certainly hope that you’ll direct them to the Scottish Rite Scholarship Foundation of Washington. Just click those underlined words, it’ll take you right to the foundation’s website, and you can share that with the people you know.
Why?
Because our annual meeting was just this past weekend, and in that meeting we gave $395,000.00 to assist students throughout Washington. Students from every corner, nick, and cranny of our State. That’s real money, that’s a real difference.
So, tell the young people you know, and the young people in your neighborhood and community about it. It’ll help them.
And remember, if this foundation can’t help, for whatever reason, loads more Masonic scholarship resources are out there. Dollars are available.
My second request is I imagine easier.
I’d like a few of your spare dollars for the foundation.
It is really awesome that the Scottish Rite here in Washington can give almost four hundred thousand dollars a year to help Washington students with their education. But wouldn’t it be even cooler if we could give eight hundred thousand a year? A million?
Well, the cost of higher ed keeps going up, up like a rocket, and Masonry has to keep pace if we are to have a strong impact for our young people.
The only way we can do that is if everyone helps. If Masons, throughout Washington, Scottish Rite and not, help to build up this foundation’s resources.
You can make a donation, it’s easy! Just a few questions and your credit card number please!
It can be done at: Scottish Rite Scholarship Foundation of Washington Donor Form.
It goes a bit beyond that too.
Can your Valley donate?
Can your Valley ask its members to donate?
Perhaps I should mention that scholarships from the foundation flow into every single Valley in our State.
Can your Lodge donate?
This is real money that helps improve the lives of real people, right here in our local communities.
—Thanks for listening. This advertisement is over, we’ll be back to our regular programing soon!—
I know, I know, I know…
You came here to read something interesting, and all you got was me begging you to empty your wallet.
So, it’s only fair that I give you something good to read. Towards that end, you can find everything I wrote last week on my LinkTree thing. Enjoy!

You can tell those that aren't pursuing a college degree that Washingtob Masonic Service also has trade scholarships available.
