Tiny Book Club - On Nobility
Let's read something valuable today, and chat about it
Today I read the essay by Christopher Cook, linked below. It is about nobility, aristocracy if you will.
Not about inherited authority or power over others.
Rather about noble, aristocratic behavior. Noble behaviors leading to sovereignty in our own lives, and duty to the lives around us.
It’s a fascinating essay.
And I think, in contemplating it, that it is speaking in a really fundamental way about Freemasonry.
As Masons we seek to subdue our passions, to learn the truth, to better ourselves, to lend meaningful assistance to those around us.
To become noble perhaps.
To elevate common man to nobility, all around our world.
I hope that you’ll take a few minutes to read this essay today, and then return here so that we can discuss it.
What can we do in our Lodges to ensure that we are creating nobility within ourselves and our Brothers?
What do you think?
Let’s chat about it…

What a great essay. The decline of something even as simple as manners is a great illustration of how bad our society has become from even, say, 50 years ago.
I’ll check out Christopher’s essay. I always admire his deep thoughtful work. What I liked best about Masons while growing up was their dedication to constantly improving the community. It’s seems my Dad was involved in projects every week that uplifted our community. Being from a small town, its noticeable to feel their presence gone today. They left a long time ago, and our community suffers because of their absence.
