The Texicans
A really great time in the metropolis of Naches, Washington
Quite a few Lodges in and around Washington host specialized side Degrees for fun and fundraising. We’ve got the RailRoad Degree, the Shipbuilders Degree, the Loggers Degree, the Pirate Degree, The Texican Degree, and certainly some others that I can’t remember at the moment.
All of these are fun, and most of them do contain some important Masonic lesson.
Perhaps the most fun, in my opinion at least, is the Texican Degree put on by our Lodge in the little town of Naches.
I was reminded of this the other day, because while out shopping I ran across this hat for sale:
If you’ve ever attended the Texican Degree, you’ll understand!
And if you want one of these hats, you can snag one of your very own right here:
If you want to attend this year’s Texican Degree I do believe that it’s scheduled for:
Saturday, October 17, 2026
207 Naches Avenue, Naches, WA
In the past a great BBQ dinner has been served beforehand, so it’ll probably be firing up about 5:30 PM.
But don’t rely upon me, contact the Lodge for all the details, and to RSVP, right here:
If you go, I promise that you’ll have a really great time.
I should mention though, that you’ll want to avoid paying the tax.
You see, all Texicans must wear cowboy boots or be subjected to the boot tax. Twenty or fifty bucks, I can’t remember which, but fifty sounds about right to my ear!
Does your Lodge do something similar? A cool side Degree or other event on the regular?
If so, slap the details into the comments below, that’ll help get the word out!
Looking for some more from me? I’ve collected my recent writing over on my LinkTree. Included there is information about our upcoming Masonic Camping Trip, The Starlight Degree, and the Masonic BBQ Contest. I hope that you can attend one or all!

You left out the Buffalo degree.
