This past week the Grand Lodge of Washington sent an email to all its Masons, reminding them that anyone who wants to run for the office of Junior Grand Warden needs to send notice of that fact in to the office this month.
I know that every Grand Lodge does things a little differently, but here we have open and competitive elections for Junior Grand Warden. Anyone who wants to can run and make their case to the Masons of Washington. After that, the elections are unopposed. So whoever is elected JGW will (barring unforeseen circumstances) be Grand Master in a few short years.
So, it’s important.
And I think that gives us an excellent topic to begin our discussion tonight.
Beginning next month the candidates for the office of JGW will be visiting Lodges, District Meetings, and other Masonic events. Not to campaign in the way politicians do, but to share their thoughts about Freemasonry, and if we are lucky their vision for the future of Freemasonry.
And that brings us to our topic:
