Some years ago, a vocal minority of members in one of my Lodges sought to decrease our Annual Dues. Their idea was easily defeated, and indeed, dues were eventually increased.
But, watching their actions and hearing their arguments provoked a powerful emotional reaction within me. These are my thoughts, from when it was going on.
Things worked out for that Lodge, but the problem remains. Another of my Lodges, right now in 2024 has dues that are far too low to meet expenses. And convincing Brothers that we need to raise them for the first time in over a decade is like pulling teeth.
We can’t allow Freemasonry to die, because we are too cheap to pay as much for it as the daily cup of coffee we brew in our kitchen.
