How often do y'all go to Masonic Family Park near Granite Falls WA? I used to stay in a shelter there for a week, and drive to work at the Boeing Commercial Airplanes 777 Final Assy Line each day.
I live in Seattle (Ballard) and go three times a year with my Daylight Lodge brothers + others from D4/5.
1. When the park opens in April we rent Rainbow Dream Camp. There’s a large kitchen, a bunk house, a large indoor space, outdoor camping and RV space, and space for outdoor campfires.
2. First weekend in August for the Open Air Master Mason degree. Brothers from our Prince Hall jurisdiction and neighbors from BC/Yukon join us. There’s always a great BBQ Saturday after the degree. I reserve our group campsite in January as that weekend books up fast.
Centralia Lodge has in the past used the Rainbow's other camping facility, Potts of Gold. It's quite a wonderful place for a Lodge to 'camp,' if we can call camping inside a huge old house camping. We're really lucky to have these places available to us.
The history of the place is interesting. Mr. Potts from long ago was our State Treasurer, and on his death donated his home to the Rainbow, so it became Potts of Gold. Two of his descendents stayed active in the Legislative arena, one is in his 90's now (and remembers Mr Potts from his childhood) the other is a younger guy, probably in his 30's now. Our Lodge was able to take that younger Potts along with us on one of our weekend camping trips there, so that was cool!
For me, not as often as I would like. I suppose it works out to be no more than once a year on average.
I really love the place, and if I still lived in Snohomish and Index I'd be there all the time. As it is now though, I've got nightmare traffic starting just north of Olympia and continuing almost to Arlington when I go.
It would though be awesome to be able to do what you used to do! Stay at the park and drive to work.
The park is a really amazing asset, I hope that we can retain it for generations to come.

3. Late in September before the camp closes.

Ok, Cameron. I will book a site and let you know which one.
Awesome! We'll have fun!
I tried to book 15 but the site requires 15 & 16 to be booked together. So I booked 17 instead.
Count me in! I'll plan on being there.
That's great! It should be superb.
