Interesting question and my answer would be Yes. Simply put the first 2 degrees for me advise us how we should live our lives and how to achieve a greater knowledge of ourselves. One of the lessons of the third for me is to take the lessons of the first two, recognise what we should change in ourselves, and begin again.

Exactly. Live every day as if it is your last. It is the ultimate lesson and to me the core of what this all means. In conjunction with this is the admonition in our memorial scroll “Live respected, die regretted”.
We are all given this gift, and it is the only one you get.
That is why I value the memento mori, I just wish I applied it more to my daily life.

I've been thinking about this quite a lot lately, as someone I know has been giving in more and more to irrational fears. That's leading to a life without living, and it's sad as heck.
Initiation into the mystery schools, whether you are talking the Greeks, Egyptians or many others centered around a symbolic death AND a rebirth.
You see this play out in Plato’s Allegory of the Cave as well. Casting off the chains of ignorance which bound you and being reborn to a new state of consciousness.
So Yes is my answer, although I would say we should live as if we are reborn.
