I pretty much live in the dead center of my little city. The post office is a block from my house. The library is right beside it. Going the other direction, the college is just half a block from my front door.
But I noticed this morning that I have deer living in my backyard now. In the tiny little wild space behind my garage. I’ve got to admit, I never thought I’d see deer sign here, right in the heart of the city.
Wonder what the neighbors would think if one morning this fall I opened the window in our spare bedroom and baged my deer with my granddad’s old Winchester 94?
Well, probably not. I’m all for camping with guns, pretending to be hunting, but actually shooting a deer? Nah, if you do that you have to butcher the animal, and that’s just too much work for my fat self. Plus, the neighbor lady would probably get all bent out of shape.
Anyway, the point of all this is that maybe in the future, if the wildlife take over my little city I may not have to actually go camping anymore!
But for now I do, and you must join me!
Masonic camping, 2026!
When?
I’ll be going from September 10 until September 14. But you can come for as many or as few nights as you’d like. The more the better, and worry not, there is a shower, so I should be able to avoid stinking.
Where?
Lewis and Clark State Park, right here in Lewis County, Washington. The State Park is great because you feel like you really are out in the deep woods, but you’re only something like ten minutes off of I-5. See, I make everything really convenient for you!
As of today, there are still a small number of campsites available. Some for tents, some for smaller trailers, and even some for bigger rigs. You can make your reservations right here:

Just make sure to book your campsite at Lewis and Clark State Park, here in Western Washington. Apparently State Parks couldn’t think of any more names, so there is also a Park in Eastern Washington with a similar name. That one is called Lewis and Clark State Park Trail.
Seriously though, this is a small, but quite beautiful State Park. Come join us, it’ll be a superb time.
What else?
Well, I rented a really awesome and massive picnic shelter for our use on Saturday, September 12. I’m not sure what we’ll do in there, but we’ll figure something great out. Likely an awesome BBQ, because who can resist the chance at a big BBQ?
Who?
Bring the family. It should prove to be a great time for all. Bring your Lodge prospects, what better way to get to know a man? Bring a friend who you think would make a great Mason, what better way to introduce him to Freemasonry?
