In order to create Legendary Freemasonry, we need the very best educational materials for our new Masons as they are going through the Degrees.
In my view, there is no better resource out there for this vital education than:
In Search Of Light; A Course Of Hieroglyphic And Moral Instruction For The Symbolic Lodge, by MW Robert G. Davis.
So I am very pleased that it is the next book we will be reading for our Emeth Book Club.
It can be ordered, directly from the author at the link:
Let’s begin reading it now, and on the evening of Wednesday, September 28, let’s gather together over Zoom to discuss it, and to discuss if and how we should use it for Masonic education in our Lodges, and with our candidates.1
By doing so, we’ll not only be able to make a very positive difference in our Lodges, but we’ll also be able to prove Brother Mackey wrong. We can show him that Masons do read!
New Masons, men going through their Degrees are hungry for information about Freemasonry, and this is the very best time we can cultivate within them an eagerness for learning that will ensure that they remain active Freemasons for life.
Part of this in my view, is the Posting Lecture.
But there is so much more. The first three chapters of Morals and Dogma are Brother Pike’s Lectures for the Craft Degrees. Candidates who are interested can certainly gain much from reading those Lectures.
Finally, very importantly, we now have In Search Of Light by MW Davis. This book is perfectly suited for the new Mason as he goes through the Degrees of Masonry. It will put his feet on the path to a wonderful Masonic career. It should be, in my view, be given to all new Masons as a part of Lodge mentorship programs.
I also behoves me to say that just because this book is perfect for new Masons, that does not mean that seasoned Masons won’t get a great deal out of it as well. I found it wonderfully written, interesting, and I learned from it. I think that you will too!
Please join us as we read In Search of Light.
Login information for the Zoom gathering will be sent to all those holding a paid subscription to Emeth on September 28.
