Well today was a very full day in Seattle. We left our hotel around 9:15 AM, and we ‘did Masonry’ all day, arriving back at the hotel around 12:30 AM.
The day began with a superb presentation by noted esoteric and Masonic author Lon Milo Duquette. I personally found his message to be deeply moving and inspiring. It renewed my desire (I guess the desire never goes away for me, but he surely pumped it up) to help our Lodges provide truly Legendary Lodge Experiences. It was an extremely meaningful presentation.
After that we heard from Wes Regan from Vancouver B.C. about the reasons for what he calls the ‘disenchantment’ of Freemasonry, and how we can work to re-enchant it. Another superb presentation, this one gave me a great deal to think about in the weeks and months to come.
The morning ended with a presentation from another noted Masonic author, this time Jaime Paul Lamb who spoke with us about Astrology. Not the kind of Astrology that comes up with simple horoscopes in the newspaper, but the detailed work that has gone on for centuries after centuries.
For lunch I had a Katsu Burger. Pretty damn good. Never heard of such a thing. I guess I have to spend some more time in the city.
After lunch we heard from Cleola Bostic about the various ways continental style Freemasonic Jurisdictions deal with issues surrounding gender. I was able to spend a good deal of time with Ms. Bostic the night prior as well and appreciated having the opportunity to hear about Masonic Jurisdictions that practice Freemasonry much differently than we do.
We were then treated to an amazing salmon dinner by Occidental Lodge.
After dinner I was honored to witness one of the finest Third Degrees that I’ve ever seen. Put on with amazing flair by Esoterika Lodge.
Then it was celebration and drinks with Washington’s newest Master Mason.
None of today’s presentations were tiled, they were all open to the public. All of tomorrow’s presentations will be tiled, open to Master Masons only.
It has been a wonderful opportunity to see old friends and meet new ones, very gratifying to me is seeing how many of the attendees are a part of Emeth! Thank you for joining me at this great event Brothers! Together we are going to strengthen our Lodges and ensure a bright and thriving future for our Ancient Craft!
What's the name of the conference and is there a program or a website?
Thank you for the constant correspondence. It keeps me informed of all the happenings and your thoughts. Happily, I feel attuned to your observations and they match my thoughts often on the fraternity. Although I’m investing my energy in Shrine, my foundation is Blue Lodge. My hope is that more Brothers would get active in the leadership of their lodge and help spread the load. God Bless you and keep you safe, Most Worshipful.
