And Now, A Review
This is funny!
One does hate to toot one’s own horn…
But, I got reviewed.
And, the review is funny as hell.
So, today only, I toot my own horn.
My local newspaper creates a periodic podcast called ‘News Dump’ in which the Editor-in-Chief discusses some of the stories it has recently published. The newspaper published one of my Substack essays earlier this week, and it seems that my little essay was the primary topic of conversation on this latest edition of ‘News Dump.’
What can I say? I think that’s pretty cool, and really damn funny, so today, I present that conversation to you.
But, before we get to the podcast, I have to say:
It seems to me, that for a pretty long time now, it is rare that I attend any sort of Masonic function and don’t hear guys doing their best to imitate my apparently distinct voice. It seems that I hear the faux ‘Cameron Accent’ almost everywhere.
Now, I’ve never met, nor spoken with, either of the guys on this podcast. Yet even they attempt a ‘Cameron Accent.’ Who knows why this is, I can only assume that it must be the hat. Or maybe the bolo tie. They did mention the bolo tie as well.
In any event, they did pretty good with the accent I think. Particularly given that neither of them have ever actually heard my voice.
With that out of the way, a few highlights from the newspaper that decided it would be a good idea to publish my words for all and sundry to see:
“Perhaps my favorite editorial in quite some time.”
“It was a fantastic column.”
“This reads like a Penthouse Forum letter.”
“This is just a top to bottom, tips to toes… uh, you know… burns down to the filter, this thing rips!”
“It’s good, you gotta go read it.”
“You know, Cameron Bailey has done something that Joe Camel and the Marlboro Man could only dream of, the way he has made smoking seem cool.”
It’s fun, and it’s really, really funny, so I’m pleased to recommend it to you. Bad impressions of my goofy voice and all!
You can find News Dump Episode #261 right here. Just give a click to those underlined words!
Assuming that you only want to hear about me, and in all honesty, what other important news could there be, the segment starts, in fits and starts, at right about the 13:15 mark. They bounce a bit between me and my Zyns and the Thurston County Sheriff’s new helicopter, so you have to give it a minute or two before it really fires up. And, alas, you’ve got to sit through a short ad. You’ll make it though, and trust me, the payoff will be worth it. If however you really insist on skipping all the intros and false starts, you can jump right into the meat of the thing at the 16:18 mark.
Enjoy!
And yeah, I’m not lying, it really is funny as hell.
If you’d like to read my essay that started all of this, well, you can find that right here:

I don't know what all the commotion is about. MW Cameron's Darth Vader voice is very soothing, especially when he intones to the current MW Master, "Roger...I AM YOUR FATHER." May the ZynI don't understand the commotion. MW Cameron's Darth Vader voice is soothing, especially when he tells the current MW Master, "Roger...I AM YOUR FATHER." May the Zyn be with you.
It is always entertaining to hear the various voices of MWB Cameron Bailey throughout the districts.
