Throughout my year as Grand Master, I had this great fantasy. I was going to spend the next few decades hanging out a lot at my local Lodge here in lil’ ol’ Centralia, and at my chosen Lodge up in Seattle. I’d sit on the sidelines, yell out the wrong prompts whenever prompts weren’t needed, and in general, pretty much just enjoy myself.
But alas, like many dreams, this particular fantasy turned out to be a ‘pipe dream.’ I was just about to leave the Grand East when I received a call from the Worshipful Master of that Lodge in Seattle. It went something like:
“Our Junior Warden is moving to New York, we’ve got a hole in the line, how about you jump on in there as Senior Warden in his place when elections come.”
Remembering what Lenin did to those who refused to go along with the program, I was too afraid to say no.
Anywhoo, the story played itself out last night, when the Lodge elected me its next Worshipful Master.
So, I’d like to take this opportunity to invite you to our upcoming Installation of Officers! It’ll be a great time, and it’ll be taking place right there at the very Center of the Universe!
And I can prove it. There’s a sign.
If that isn’t good enough for you, there’s a govment type sign too:
In all seriousness though, if you can, we’d love to have you at our Installation!
Saturday, October 21
Lunch at Noon, Installation to follow at 1:00 PM
Doric Lodge No. 92
619 N. 36th Street, Seattle WA
You can’t miss the place, (well, actually, it’s kind of easy to miss) but you can’t miss the big statue. Just find it, we are right beside it.
This will be an Open Installation, so your wife or buddy is welcome to attend as well. We’ll have a good lunch, we’ll do a bit of Masonry, then we’ll retire to the Library. It’ll be great!
Come join us, and while you are there, enjoy Fremont as well. Here is a link with some of the highlights:
One final note of warning for my Brothers of Sultan-Monroe, Skykomish, and Centralia Lodges…
Where I live here in Centralia, if someone is wandering around on the street, we rightly assume that they are a criminal type, looking for something to steal, ‘cause this is America and we drive damnit!
But, if you are traveling from here to Fremont, please be advised that apparently, in the big city, regular people actually walk in the street. I’ve been given to understand that while in Seattle, mowing these people down with one’s car is frowned upon.
Quite a juxtaposition of Lenin and Freemasonry. The socialists would have thrown us all in a gulag.
Congratulations MW!
(good thing you have all that practice over the years )
And I would even give you 4 shiney quarters or even crisp George Washington pictures >;-P
