I had thought the Scottish Rite organized originally in South Carolina… But its difficult to find all the ins and outs of certain organizations. I did happen upon a original copy of the Constitution of the Eastern Star of South Carolina at an estate sale. Interesting to note that it is rumors that Trump is a 33 degree Mason… wouldnt surprise anyone as George Washington surely was.
You are right, the Scottish Rite did first organize as such in Charleston SC. From that initial body, it has spread around the world. Currently the US has two Scottish Rite Jurisdictions, the Southern and the Northern, but despite the names, they aren't divided North and South now. Washington State for example is a part of the Southern Jurisdiction. The Northern Jurisdiction operates only in the NE of the US.
That OES document sounds like quite a treasure!
As for President Trump, we have indeed had a great many Masonic Presidents, but he is not included among their number. Our last Masonic President was President Ford.
i’m thinking that both Sen.Thurmond and Sen.Helms were also members of the order but its rather difficult to obtain a square on things at times… Part of the Mysteries one can only imagine.
To the best of my knowledge, yes. A recipient must be a US Citizen and a Washington Resident, attending school in Washington.
But, I believe that there is a single exception to this, it is my understanding that the Foundation will provide financial assistance to some Washington students in some programs at George Washington University.
The Foundation also indirectly provides scholarships through Washington Masonic Services, I know that WMS's requirements are different but I don't know the details of those differences.
Lastly, the Supreme Council SJ provides scholarships all across the US, and the Foundation has and does contribute to those programs as well.

For those interested in leaving behind a donation to the Scottish Rite Foundation, the Scottish Rite has a tool to help.

Thank you for providing this link Brother!
That’s fantastic Cameron for students in Washington State seeking financial aid for their college education! Excellent!
Yeah, it is a truly excellent endeavor for our youth!
Do they still only give scholarships for in-state schools?
