You should join us at the Lodge on the 26th at whatever time your heart desires. Quilcene Lodge is surrounded by huge and private lawns, a perfect place to spend the day with fellow Masons, talking about Masonry. I’ll be there in the morning and will stay all day.
You should bring your family as well, if they would like to come. It’s a truly wonderful place to hang out in the sun. We always have lots of our partners join us, kids too.
If you do come early, we’ll provide lunch for a donation to cover the costs. Nothing fancy, hot dogs, chips and the like. Bring your own beer, pop, juice, whatever suits your taste.
We’ll also be providing dinner.
We’ll look to serve around six, so that there is plenty of time after to prepare for the Degree.
Pulled Chicken BBQ Sandwiches with all the fixins’ and trimmins’ you can imagine. We’ll ask for a donation to cover the costs of dinner as well.
What we won’t be having this year is the BBQ contest that normally takes place at dinner time. Circumstances unique to 2026 have made that impossible.
But don’t worry about that, we’ll feed you extremely well! I promise!
Here’s some more things that you should know:
Lodging at Quilcene seems to be unusually tight this year.
If you can’t find a place to stay, but want to stay locally, you’ve got a few good options.
-If you are into camping, you are welcome to camp at the Lodge. As I wrote above, the Lodge is surrounded by huge lawns. There is more than enough space to hold everyone who might like to camp there. Tents or RV’s. (If you want to bring an RV let me know so that I can let the Lodge know.)
-Port Townsend, a beautiful historic city a short drive away is filled to the gills with really superb places to stay, of all types, and for all price ranges. I’d include a list here, but it would be far too long. You’ll find something that suits you perfectly.
So just what is the Starlight Degree?
Well, let me tell ya…
Quilcene Jefferson Lodge has a really cool outdoor Lodge Room, nestled under towering trees. We wait until it is perfectly dark, then wander into that Lodge Room, don appropriate costumes, and confer the Fellowcraft Degree on a worthy candidate.
It is truly superb. We’ve been doing it for a lot of years now, and we’ve made improvements to it each and every time. I honestly don’t think that a better Fellowcraft Degree experience is possible.
